Who leads these

Akanksha Mehta

Counselling Psychologist · M.Sc. Counselling Psychology · Mind Soul Bridge

Most of the people who come to see me aren't in crisis. They're managing — holding down the job, showing up for everyone, doing it well enough that nobody thinks to ask. And somewhere underneath, running on empty.

I started running retreats because a fifty-minute session once a week is a slow way to reach that. Six days somewhere unfamiliar, with a small group and nothing you're obliged to do, gets there faster — not because the setting is beautiful, but because distance loosens the version of yourself you perform at home.

These retreats are built the way I work: relationally, at your pace, with real structure behind them. No forced sharing, no bypassing discomfort, and a one-to-one session once you've booked, to make sure it's what you actually need. If you'd like to talk before booking, message me on WhatsApp.

What these are

Not a holiday with a workshop attached.

A therapy retreat is a residential programme of facilitated group work, held away from your usual environment because distance does something a consulting room can't. The travel is the instrument. The therapy is the point.

These may be for you if

  • 01

You feel emotionally drained, stuck, or disconnected from your inner life

  • 02

You've been functioning, but not really feeling

  • 03

You're in therapy and want to deepen the work in a different setting

  • 04

You want to understand patterns — guilt, burnout, boundary collapse

  • 05

You've done inner work and want a shift words alone haven't brought

  • 06

You want meaningful company, not performance

What a week looks like

  • 01

Two facilitated sessions a day — group process and guided reflection

  • 02

A morning practice: breath, gentle movement, grounding

  • 03

One place-based module a day, using the landscape and its history

  • 04

    A one-to-one check-in with the counsellor mid-retreat

  • 05

Free time built in alongside the programme

  • 06

A closing circle and written work you take home

Every retreat is tailored to the group that arrives.

The honest comparison

How this differs from a wellness retreat.

Both can be good. They're not the same thing, and the difference matters if you're bringing something real.

Who leads it

Therapy retreat

A qualified counselling psychologist

Wellness retreat

A wellness facilitator, yoga teacher, or coach

Before you go

Therapy retreat

A one-to-one session once you've booked, to make sure it fits — and WhatsApp beforehand if you want to talk first

Wellness retreat

You pay and you're in

The sessions

Therapy retreat

Structured therapeutic group work with a clinical frame

Wellness retreat

Guided relaxation, workshops, general wellbeing

If something surfaces

Therapy retreat

There's a counselling psychologist in the room who is trained for that.

Wellness retreat

Usually no one qualified to hold it

Confidentiality

Therapy retreat

A group agreement set together on the first day, taken seriously

Wellness retreat

Informal or unaddressed

Afterwards

Therapy retreat

A re-entry plan and support if you need it

Wellness retreat

You go home

The difference isn't marketing. It's clinical accountability.

— Formats

Different rhythms, same clinical spine.

01 Small Group

Small Groups

Our main format. Depth, safety, and shared witnessing, held with strong boundaries. You can come individually, with a partner or friend, or as a group.

02 Partner or Friendship

Two people

A therapeutic space for a close relationship to explore its dynamics, repair ruptures, or simply understand each other without the everyday in the way.

03 Private Group

A Group of Your Own

A retreat with no one else in it — friends, siblings, colleagues or a family of adults. Dates and location arranged around you, with the same structure and the same clinical frame. Get in touch and we will build it.

04 Accessible

Shared and Simplified

Shared rooms, community meals, curated minimalism. Emotional depth shouldn't be a luxury, and the therapeutic structure doesn't change with the room category.

05 Movement-Based

Walking and Trekking

Some retreats include gentle trekking, nature walks, or outdoor immersion — for people who process through action rather than words. Always optional, always paced by consent.

06 Open Evenings

Open Evenings

Every night ends in a circle, and after that the evening is yours — rooftops, folk music, a long dinner nobody wants to leave. The group work doesn't stop when the session does.

Safety, ethics, consent

What we hold ourselves to.

These aren't policies. They're the clinical and ethical foundation everything else is built on.

Clinical accountability is non-negotiable.

Why distance helps

A new setting interrupts auto-pilot.

Changing your sensory input shakes loose patterns that hold firm at home. Away from your usual roles — the job, the family, the city version of yourself — it becomes possible to see what you're actually doing.

What the place does

Water and enclosure regulate; open horizon and emptiness expose

A silent walk somewhere unfamiliar surfaces material a conversation won't

Making something with your hands lowers defences that face-to-face talk raises

Scale — a fort, a ruin, a dark sky — puts a life in proportion faster than argument

What we choose locations for

Whether they hold an emotional process, gently and without distraction

Quiet, and the ability to secure a private space for group work

Cultural depth and resonance rather than luxury

Practicality: how far the nearest hospital is, and how we'd get you there

Places chosen for what they do to a nervous system — not for the photographs.

Questions

Before You Book.

A residential programme of facilitated group therapeutic work, led by a qualified counselling psychologist, held away from your usual environment. The sessions have clinical structure, every participant has a one-to-one session with the counsellor before travelling, and the facilitator is a therapist rather than a coach or wellness practitioner.

No. Many participants have never done any of this. Once you've booked, you'll have a 30-minute session with Akanksha before you travel, which is where we establish together whether the retreat fits where you are.

A facilitated five- or six-night retreat in India usually runs ₹40,000 to ₹80,000, and the better-known wellness resorts run well above that. Ours start at ₹25,000 for five nights. Udaipur includes return travel from Delhi, your stay, breakfasts and dinners; Jaisalmer is ₹27,000 and land-only, so you make your own way there. Prices vary by room category and by retreat — each retreat page carries the full breakdown of what's included and what isn't.

Yes. You can come individually, with a partner or friend, or as a group — tell us and we'll arrange the rooming around you. Rooms are same-gender and allocated by us in advance.

Never. There's no forced sharing at any point and no expectation that you speak in every circle.

Everyone gets an individual check-in mid-retreat as standard, and you can extend it. If something harder surfaces, say so and we'll make time.

You leave with a re-entry plan — what holds when you get back, what changes and what support you have. If you'd like ongoing support, we can talk about that — but a retreat isn't a substitute for ongoing therapy, and we'll say so if that's what you need.

These are our winter destinations. We're always exploring locations that fit — quiet mountain towns, coastal stays, forest retreats. If you know a place that holds you emotionally, tell us about it.

Begin Your Journey

Not sure yet? That's a reasonable place to start.

Message us and say what you're looking for, or send your details and we'll come back to you. We'll tell you honestly whether one of these fits, or what's coming up that might. Your enquiry is confidential, and there's no pressure attached at any stage.
